Anna Kies Services Held
Anna Kies, 94, of Ackley, died Tuesday, October 5, at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley, with Rev. Tim Diehl officiating.
Burial followed at East Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley.
Anna was born December 15, 1898, in Cleves the daughter of Hilko and Ettje Mennenga Bleeker. She attended East Clay School Hardin Co.
On January 25, 1954, she was united in marriage to Albert Kies at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage west of Wellsburg. Anna and her husband farmed SE of Cleves until they retired in 1959.
Anna was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Reformed Church west of Wellsburg. She became a member of East Friesland Church on July 6, 1924. She was active in the Women's Guild, Bible Study, and the Sewing Group. In 1933 her home canned food was displayed at the "A Century of Progress Show" Chicago Worlds Fair. Her church, family, friends and home were very important to her. Many of her relatives and friends received hankies with tatting on them that she had made.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Marie Bleeker of Iowa Falls, Melinda Kies of Wall Lake and Ida Kies of Ackley. Also many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert in 1964; sister in infancy; and three brothers, Everett, John and a brother in infancy.
Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home in Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
