Services Monday For Joe Boyenga

Services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church for Joe Boyenga, age 81, who passed away Thursday at the Ellsworth hospital in Iowa Falls. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Abe Jaspers of Steamboat Rock, a son, Joy of Tucson, Ariz., a sister, Mrs. Bohle Willems at Ackley.

Mr. Boyenga was active in community and civic affairs. He served for many years as vice president and director of the Grundy Mutual Insurance Association which has headquarters in Grundy Center.

He was one of the first directors of the Grundy County Rural Electric Cooperative being elected a director in 1936. He served as director for 10 years. During that time he held three of the major offices of the Cooperative. He was treasurer in 1938, president in 1939 and 1940 and vice president in 1941.
