EGGERS posted by Cathy Eggers Humeniak on Thursday, July 20, 2017

My mother, Marie England EGGERS, taught school in 1928 at Kane School #1 in Benton County and I am wondering if anyone knows the location of where this school was located. I have a Plat Map dated 1937 showing the school locations but my family is not sure which country school she taught at (location). I just came across a picture which has Kane School #1 and the date 1928 written on the back so it looks like at least we now know it is Kane #1.

KIMM, NORWAY posted by Shona Frese on Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Can anyone tell me who or what was the driving force for NORWAY building an Opera House in the early 1900's. I know the builder was Jacob KIMM.

NORWAY, WALFORD posted by Shona Frese on Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Can anyone tell me when the farming area between NORWAY and WALFORD first got electricity? Some articles say the town of NORWAY got electricity in 1920. Not sure if that is accurate, but farms usually got it later than that.

PADFIELD posted by Alex Whitmer on Monday, November 13, 2017

Good Morning, I am writing a story about the PADFIELD family that lived there between 1950 and 1955, and specifically in Shellsburg. The names are Hammond PADFIELD, Ethel PADFIELD, Marlene PADFIELD, Raymond PADFIELD and Patricia PADFIELD. Barbara PADFIELD was probably born there.

Raymond graduated from high school there, maybe in '52. Marlene transferred from Shellsburg High to Mount Vernon as a 9th grader in 55, and her younger sister Patricia transferred from Shellsburg school, third grade, to Mount Vernon schools in '55.

I'm hoping to find photos of the old house, or an address I can google, any school photos you might have, etc. There is virtually no information about their time in Shellsburg.

The moved there from Madison, Wisconsin in 1950, and then moved to Mount Vernon/Lisbon in 1955.
