COOK, KOCH posted by Janet (Cook) Hartje on Thursday, May 12, 2016

my great-grandfather Ben COOK born Oct 25, 1863 in Wisconsin lived in Belle Plaine, IA. He died June 27, 1900. He was a bridgeman for the railroad. He married Catherine 'Katie' Kenney or Kinney in 1890 in Clinton, Iowa. They had three children, Maude Sept 9, 1891; Frank July, 1893 and Bernard Roy Oct 10, 1895. All the children were born in Belle Plaine. I am trying to find the names of Ben COOK's parents. I found an obituary that said they lived in Wisconsin along with his two brothers but it did not say any names. I know our family name was changed at some point from KOCH to COOK. I don't know if Ben changed the name when he moved to Iowa or if their name was changed when they came to America. He was Catholic and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetary. can you suggest any sources who may have a record of Ben's parents?
