HERTZ, John Ephraim born about 1800 in Berks Co., PA. I need birth dates of John and/or his children to verify family. I quote an 1918 article. "Israel of Blairstown, Iowa. Mathias died May 1917 buried Yale, Iowa; George and Solomon deceased both buried at Blairstown, Iowa. Susan married to a HALSTEAD died Feb. 1917 buried at Blairstown, Iowa. Elizabeth married to a STEFFY of Belle Plaine, Iowa Kinda married to a LLOYD of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Hiram and Augustus both of Marengo, Iowa." Any help would be appreciated.

Gulick; Benton Co., Iowa, USA; 1840-1930. I'm looking for information about my greatgrandfather. His family came from Ill. about 1840-80. My grandfather, Lloyd Russell GULICK was born in Benton in 1911. The family later moved to Chas. City in Floyd Co. I'm interested in finding Lloyd Russell GULICK's parents and grandparents.

Looking for J.W. DOBBS and Judy SHARP DOBBS. If they are on an 1870 census in Iowa, with a 2 year old and an infant, there could be a connection. Possibly they are the parents of my great-grandfather, Frank JACKSON, who changed his name and moved to Texas.

I am searching for information on Elizabeth BRANT who married Orson BOGLE on Nov. 28, 1847 in Cedar County, Ia. She and her husband are listed in the 1850 Benton Co, IA census and remained in Benton County until presumbably the 1860's when she had to sell her land. Orson BOGLE died 1857. He and Elizabeth had several children. It is believed that Elizabeth after the death of her husband married a Mr. FOOTE. It is also possible that a daughter moved to New York and married a Mr. WEBB. I am seeking information on John SHAWYER and his wife Elizabeth BOGLE who were married in Cedar Co, IA 24 May, 1846. John and Elizabeth had a son who presumably moved to Benton Co, IA to work as a farmhand for his uncle, Valentine BOGLE, in Eden Township. Elizabeth's parents Andrew and Catherine BOGLE are buried in the Eden Cemetery and there may be SHAWYERS IN the Eden Cemetery. Thank you for your assitance, Roger Green.

Anything on Ruben HECK, wife, Samantha Ann (RUPERT) HECK, both born Columbiana, Ohio Arrived Blairstown 1862-1864. Sons of Rupert were Issac Emerson, Ruben, Benjamin, Milo; daughter, Viola Belle. Issac married Margaret Ann (CLEWITT) LOCKIE. Issac and Margaret HECK children, all born Blairstown, Ralph, Charles, Earl, Raymond, Ruth, John, Mary, Fannie, Russell. Issac and Margaret HECK family left Blairstown sometime after 1905.

HUNT looking for information about my grandmother Josephine WILSON born 1858 to James WILSON and Anna WETHERAL. died in Des Moines in 1924. She was married to Charles BRAMHALL their son William Henry BRAMHALL, my father was born Feb. 17, 1882 in Benton County. Later she married a man named HUNT had one daughter Ruth HUNT who married Lee BLAIR. They lived in Ames in the early 1900.

GRIFFIN, Bryant Vinton, Benton County IA 1865 - 1901 b. July 22, 1847, family returned to Ontario about 1852. He went to Iowa from Ontario about 1865; may have farmed, as he wrote his brother about opportunity with fertile soil, etc. (His brother, Zebina F. Griffin, my GGrandfather, took advice and went to Vinton area 1866 for a couple of years. He sold wood to school for the blind.) In 1901 obituary for his father, Jacob Griffin, Wisconsin, Bryant Griffin had died “in active manhood” and had been a lawyer in Vinton IA. One uncorroborated source says he died 1/1876. Hi, I am trying to find vital dates for the James B. LOCKE family of Vinton, Iowa, and Big Grove and Taylor Townships, Benton County, Iowa. He was b. 1/31/1828 (I have his ancestry) in PA, lived in NY, m. Elsie WALLEY in NY, moved to Benton County in abt 1854. They had Mattie (I have some of her descendants), Katie, Sadie and Frank. He was in the Co. I, 24th Iowa Infantry in the Civil War. I am looking for other vital dates and whether the other children married and had descendants. Thanks in advance for any help.
