Looking for any information on the MCQUIN(N) and MONTAGUE families of Benton County, Iowa. Bernard McQuin, son of James, married Nell Montague, daughter of Alexander. Bernard and Nell moved to Aurelia, Iowa from Benton County. This is my husband's great grandparents on his father's side. He was raised by his mother and has no info on his father's family. "W.PROBERT" was listed as a dealer in agricultural implements in Blairstown,Benton County, Iowa in the late 1800s. I am searching for the information on descendants of James and Asenath Stover PROBERT, who came to farm in Shell Rock Township, Butler County, Iowa circa 1860 with some of their adult children, among whom was a William L. Probert, that could be well be this man. Their other children in the general area were James Harvey, Charles L., Russell W. and Luellon S. Probert. Any information on "W. Probert, dealer in agricultural implements", eg biographical material, obituary, etc.etc.or on any PROBERTS greatly appreciated.

FROEHLICH, Michael born 18 Jan 1823 Germany, died 24 Feb 1917 Vinton, IA. He came to the US from Bremen, Germany with his only surviving daughter Augusta who married into the Steinke line. Michael's wife and 7 other children died of the plague in Germany. He became a naturalized citizen the December 21, 1877...see Volume 2, page 260, Circuit Court, Benton County, IA. He later married a woman by the name of Wilhelmiene. He left all of his property in the Vinton, IA area to his nephew John D. Froehlich. I am searching for any descendants of either Michael or John and am hoping to add to my family tree. Please email me with any information. Thanks!

In the 1878 Benton Co. History, under the surname SCHEURER, that family is said to belong to the Evangelical Church. Is that church still in existance in Benton Co. (or LaPorte City)? Is that the full name of the church? Are there records available? Where? Thank you for your help.
