PENROSE, SCHNEYER, SNAIR, SNYRE posted by Marsha Allen on Wednesday, November 10, 1999

SCHNEYER, Fred & Catharine are listed in the 1870 Census for Canton Twp, Benton Co, IA. They are farmers. Fred SCHNEYER age 48, born Prussia, and Catharine age 52, born Prussia; Caroline age 16, born Massachusetts; Adelia age 12, born MA; Harry age 9, born MA. Five dwellings earlier is the PENROSE family of Joseph and Phoebe and children, William, Adella, Lavina, Mary B. Twelve years later, Adella PENROSE and Harry SCHNEYER get married and raise a family in Colorado. Does anyone know of these families? When the SCHNEYERs were living in Massachusetts, it was in Stockbridge, Berkshire Co. Their name was spelled SNAIR in the 1860 census, yet was SNYRE in 1861 when son Harry was born. (They obviously didn't know how to spell their name or to correct someone else's spelling. They are the same people because of other facts!) I thank you for your time. Please contact me!
