MCCULLEY posted by Margaret S McCulley Chambers on Saturday, August 7, 2010

I am looking for any information dealing with the DR James A MCCULLEY family who lived in Urbana and then on a farm in Polk township. He was a physician there until his death in 1896. The MCCULLEY School was located on his farm and I am searching for any records, documents or photos that anyone might have about the origin and years of use of the building as a school and also its use as a church. Also in the 1870 census a child, Sarah, 3 years old, was listed in the family, but she is not in the 1880 census. Does anyone have any information about her death, burial or cause of death? DR James and wife Sarah MCCULLEY were my great grandparents on the MCCULLEY side, and their grandson, Eugene Donald and wife Beulah MCCULLEY were my parents. Any information about the family would be greatly appreciated. Contact can be made by my email at qsangirl@msn.com, reference line MCCULLEY history.

MATEER posted by Rosalind Weir on Sunday, August 15, 2010

I'm searching for what happened to my GGG-grandfather, Jacob C MATEER. He and his wife, Catherine, moved from PA to Benton Co Iowa in 1856. He is in the census records for 1856, 1860, and 1870. After that his wife has moved to Afton, Union, Iowa (where son, Henry Newton MATEER lives) and Catherine is a widow. I've studied cemetery records and any other online records I could find. Can anyone help me? They lived in Canton and Eldorado.
Thanks for any help.
Sincerely,
Rosalind

WORLEY posted by Jim Worley on Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Does anyone have information or Samuel (S.S.) WORLEY. There is a great deal on Joshua WORLEY M.D., who was only a distant relative of his but I can find nothing about him. There is a reference in the Oelwein Daily Register to him coming from Shellsburg in 1935 to visit his brother in Hazleton. I would at least like to know the date of his death. He worked for the railroad.

ELLISON, ELLYSON, SHINN posted by Brian Ellyson on Friday, August 20, 2010

I'm trying to find out more about a Charles W. ELLYSON / ELLISON that was born in 1877 in Indiana to Webster ELLYSON and Grace SHINN. I have found Charles on the 1880 census and 1885 census in Blairstown and Leroy (Benton County) respectively. However, in 1900 the parents are found in Goshen, Ohio and it states that they were parents of 1 child but 0 living at that time. I'm trying to find out if Charles passed in Benton County before they moved there.

Looking for any evidence, other that stated on 1885 census that Mary Ann BROWNELL divorced Charles BROWNELL before 1885 census and that Charles BROWNELL died before 1887 in Benton county and was nursed by Mary Ann after she divorced him. She belonged to a church and was presented with a bible, probably Baptist or Methodist denomination about 1880 or '81. Was Charles BROWNELL buried locally? Thank you for your help.
