Chambers LARUE (civil war vet), Lewis Ebenezer (civil war vet) b. 1847 Potter Co., PA m. Katherine (Kate) Smith d/o Naomi ELLIOTT SMITH JACOBS, and Harvey Leighton b. 1851 PA. Lewis & Kate's children born in Benton County: Edwin, Mabel Ellinor, Ray and Myrtle. Ray SHUTTS b. 1888 m. Hazel DAUCHY d/o Henry O. DAUCHY & Delilah FERGUSON. I have info on this SHUTTS line to 1611 and am willing to share.

I am looking for the parents of David M. STERN b. 23 Aug 1828 in Bedford Co, PA, m. Mary Ann HEITCHEN 4 April 1849 in Shellsburg, Benton Co, Iowa. David d. 4 July 1909 in Nebraska but is buried in Shellsburg, Iowa along with Mary Ann who died 11 Sept 1869 and is buried in Shellsburg, Iowa. Davids parents are Peter Stern and Anna MOYER. No other info in Peter except "from old country, didn't speak English" written in a journal. Anna was b. 1 Aug 1783 and d. 8 Aug 1846. Thanks for any information.

BRECHT Searching for BRECHT family descendants from Norway, Iowa. Franz Stefan BRECHT m. Phillipine Kniereman Schrader [both of Rheinsheim, Germany] in 1832, and immigrated to America, settling in Norway, Iowa. Franz Stefan and Phillipine BRECHT brought their 11 children. Our family stem follows the life of their second child, Lorenz BRECHT who married Rosa BREITHAUPT Sept. 19, 1857 in Iowa City. Lorenz and Rosa BRECHT had 6 daughters and 1 son (Frank Brecht). We only know about Frank Brecht, who married Emmaline Smith--they had only 1 child, Agnes Magdalene BRECHT, who married Russell George BOHRNSTEDT IN 1929 in Arcadia, Wisconsin. Agnes Magdalene BRECHT taught school in Garwin, Iowa before attending Univ. of Iowa (BA English, 1927). We would like to know more about the descendants of Franz Stefan & Phillipina BRECHT's other children and the descendants of the 6 daughters of Lorenz & Rosa BRECHT.

BALLIETT, BLISS, HAINES, PAULEY, PHILLIPS, ROBBINS, WILCOX My gg-grandfather Nathan Purse (middle name possibly Pierce or Purce) BLISS, was born either 4 March or 4 June 1812, in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, or Genesee County, New York. About 1829, he moved to Indiana. I first find him in 1843 when he married Aberillah HAINES 16 Apr 1843, at LaPorte County, Indiana. Children: Marion Elisha BLISS (my g-grandfather), born 22 Mar 1844, at LaPorte, married 1st to Lucinda D ROBBINS, 19 Apr 1871 at Benton County, married 2nd Josephine Louise WILCOX, 18 Oct 1885 at Buchanan County, Nebraska; George W BLISS, born 10 Nov 1846 at LaPorte, possibly married around 1865-1871 in Benton County, he died 23 Sep 1876 at Antelope County, Nebraska; Amanda Claranada BLISS BALLIETT, born 9 Oct 1848 at LaPorte, married 1st Peter S BALLIETT 20 Aug 1871 at Benton County, 2nd David M WILKINSON 15 Sept 1878 at Antelope County; Alice G BLISS, born abt 1854 at LaPorte; Thomas BLISS, born 2 Jan 1858 at LaPorte, died abt 1859/1860 in either LaPorte County or Benton County; James Joseph BLISS, born 19 Feb 1859 at LaPorte; Josephine Mary BLISS (twin of James); Alta Jane BLISS, born 21 Jul 1862 at Benton County. The family moved from LaPorte County to Taylor Township, Benton County in late 1859 or early 1860. 6 Sep 1862, at the age of 50 yrs, Nathan enlisted in the 37th Regiment, Company A, Iowa Volunteers (Graybeards). He was mustered 6 Nov 1862, promoted to 8th Corporal 24 Oct 1863, 7th Corporal 29 Dec 1863, 6th Corporal 28 Feb 1864, and 3rd Corporal 29 Nov 1864. He was mustered out 24 May 1865 at Davenport, Iowa. Aberilla's parents were James HAINES and Mary Polly PHILLIPS. James at the age of 64 yrs, also enlisted with the 37th Regiment, Company A, he died of disease 24 Jan 1864 at St Louis, Missouri. He is buried in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks (St Louis). Mary PHILLIPS HAINES, married 2nd to Zachariah PAULEY, 19 June 1865 at Benton County. Nathan moved to Antelope County, Nebraska in early 1872. He died at Antelope County, 5 Dec 1886. 1. I am looking for any record in Benton County of the birth of Alta Jane (Jane Alta) BLISS (b 21 July 1862). 2. Any information of the parents or siblings of Nathan. 3. Any record of a marriage of George W BLISS in Benton County between 1865-1871. Any other information on the above names would be greatly appreciated. Sue:

WAY born 1824 Wayne Co., Indiana resided 1905 Benton Co., Iowa; m. bef 1845 Emily Ann KIBBIE; m. 1856 Rachel SLAUTER (Mrs. DOUGHERTY); m. 1881 Catherine (Mrs. KISLING); d. 1905 Benton Co., Iowa, buried KISLING Cemetery, Benton Co., Iowa. David's parents were: Thomas WAY, b. abt 1807 North Carolina; residence 1839-1850 Polk Township, Benton Co., IA. Sarah (Mrs. WAY); b. abt 1846 South Carolina. Thomas & Sarah left for California about 1850. No data is available for them (birth, marriage, death records). I am very interested in learning about this family.

George CHRISTMAN and Elizabeth SNYDER were married January 3rd 1856 in Lansing,Tompkins Co, NY. The orbitary I found says CHRISTMAN -at is home 950 Allen street, Friday, Aug. 2. Deceased was born at Reading, Pennsylvania Dec 18th, 1828. Lived in Jackson 19 years. Left a wife and four daughters- Mrs. HIRSHA, of Spring Arbor: Mrs. FOX, of Saginaw; Miss Lizzie CHRISTMAN and Mrs. Lewis H. HAYNES, of this city, are left to mourn his loss. Would like to fine out the year and when his wife died. Their children - Ida May Christman was born March 23, 1857 in Lansing NY. She married Henry HERSHA on Dec 27, 1878 in Sumanit?, Jackson Co., MI. Elizabeth M. Christman was born April 10, 1870 in Genoror, NY- Married Fredrick FOX on Sept 16th in Monroe, MI. Lizzie A. Christman was born April 9, 1870 in Shawnee Co. Kansas. Grace Georgice Christman was born July 21, 1873 in Bellplain, Iowa-married to Harry L. STEARNS in Jackson, MI on Dec. 28, 1897

I am looking for info on BRODY family. Traced to Benton Co. during 1900 census. My grandmother Rebecca Brody resided in Vinton Township along with her mother Caroline, sister Maude and brother Dave. Three were employed in a hotel and the son was a day laborer.

PAUL, step daughter of Mary BUCK MILLER) b 1850 in Polo, Ogle Co, IL, d 1922 in Belle Plaine, IA. They had the following children born in Benton and Tama Counties, IA: 1. Mary "Leona" WILCOXON 1871-1954, d unmarried - school teacher & principal. 2. Lewis Orville WILCOXON 1873-1924?, m Claire unknown. 3. Irene Viola WILCOXON 1876-1957, m George JANES: 4. Joseph Harold WILCOXON 1882-1951, m Hattie HALL. George served in the Civil War in IL and was a member of the GAR. George and "Alice" married in Ogle Co, IL. They moved to KS for a short time, then to Tama Co, IA, then to Montour, IA, then to Belle Plaine, Benton Co, IA. George's uncle, Thomas D.H. WILCOXON, lived in Tama Co, IA. George's father, Isaiah, lived with George and "Alice" for awhile. George and his son, Joseph, were stone masons and built many of the buildings in Benton Co, IA. Lewis "Orville" went to the gold fields before moving to CA. Joseph and Hattie moved to WI. Hattie HALL WILCOXON's parents were Alfred Herman HALL and Margaret MARTIN of Belle Plaine, IA. Seeking any additional information about these families and any living relatives.

MARTIN, b 1862 in Algona/Morris, Grundy Co, IA, d 1923 in Belle Plaine. They had the following children all born in Belle Plaine, IA: 1. Maude HALL, 1880. 2. Hattie HALL 1884-1938, m Joseph Harold WILCOXON. 3. Edith May HALL 1884-1933, m Albert Emil HERMAN. 4. Nellie A. HALL 1886-1941, m Frank E. HUMESTON. 5. Raymond H. HALL 1890-1963 m L. Pearl GRAF. 6. The family homesteaded in the early 1900s in SD before returning to Belle Plaine, IA. Some members stayed there. Others eventually moved to WI and CA. Most stayed in Benton Co. IA. There were several railroaders in the family.
