ANDERSON, WINSETT posted by Carol Davis Warner on Sunday, April 14, 2002

Hoping to share info with persons researching the ANDERSON family of Benton Co. William Henry ANDERSON was born Jan. 09, 1851 in IL and moved to Benton Co. with parents, James and Ann ANDERSON. William married Sevena WINSETT of Black Hawk Co. They had two children, LeVerne Elvin, and Marie Verle. They left Iowa for Colorado due to 3 of the 4 of them having TB. William's father James committed suicide in 1874 and Ann died in 1880. William and family lived in Vinton and he was a prominent business man in that town.

COOPER, KING, MCKEE posted by marigold castle on Monday, April 15, 2002

KING? I am searching for information on a great grandmother, for whom I only have a first name, Blanche. She was the adopted daughter of John Dempster KING and Sarah L. COOPER, who came from Whiteside Illinois to settle in Blairstown Iowa in 1866. I do not know if Blanche used the KING name, and as yet have been unable to locate her in the 1870 or 1880 federal censuses. According to the 1900 federal census for Iowa (sioux city, ward 4 Woodbury County), where she is listed under her married name, MCKEE, she was born in Illinois in July 1860, so I presume came from Illinois with the Kings when they moved to Iowa. I am also presuming she may have been a relative, or at least was not a foundling, as she lists her parents' birthplaces in the 1900 census as Penn and Ohio. Both J.D. KING and Sarah COOPER were born in Ohio, so she was obviously not using their birthplaces but did know something about her birth parents.
