Joan - talked to the lady at the Iowa Department of Human Services. First off, I can't request info because I am a niece and not a daughter. Second, they only have records from the Annie Wittenmyer home - and I don't know if he came from there or not. Third, she says that they would have the same records as Scott County and that we need to send a notarized letter there requesting information. Which I am working on. Also, I just heard back from the special collections department at the Davenport Library and they said they have nothing under my uncle's last name - I told them it was his adoptive name. Then they said they had no births recorded on my uncle's birth date. I have the State of Iowa certification of vital record form that says there was. Help! Where do I turn now?
