You are a saint! Thank you so much for your help. Mom is still living but has cancer and only months to live so I am trying to help her find her dad so she can know before she passes. She lived in Cuba City, WI until about 1940 when her family moved to WA. She was adopted by Byron and Ursalene Goldthorpe (gpa's dad owned the Cuba City newspaper) They learned about my mom from the town doctor and he arranged for the adoption. I don't know if mom knows the dr's name or not. And we do have a stamped birth certificate that was issued by R.N. Miller, clerk of the district court, Iowa City, IA in 1952 years later? Mom's name on it was Jane Frances Nelson (and it said her mom was Margaret Nelson and dad Ronald Vonderhaar. which tells me his name is not that since hers wasn't Margaret Nelson) Date of filing was Feb 28, 1934 and issued February 20th, 1952 which is way after the fact. We also have a Iowa State Board of Health Certificate of Birth with the adopted parents names on it. If you have an email address you want to share, I can scan all the documents and email them to you. Mom's adoption records were sealed. Mom tried to get them opened and got denied. we received a letter indicating the file had no information on the identity of her biological father. Said had mom's information only and it matched what my mom gave them. They said mom had more information that what the court has. That was from Alan Pearson from Iowa District Court in 1993
My mom's adopted mom got the real names (Beatrice Millmeyer and Ronald Vonderhaar) when they were signing their adoption papers and looked over the shoulder of someone? She secretly wrote them down. I believe the story she told was from the dr. in town.
