are you sure she gave birth at Mercy Hospital. could it have been University of Iowa Hospital??the U had a place for unwed mothers that came from all over the state?? I know of no unwed mothers home in the iowa city area and I grew up here. so if she gave birth at Mercy she more than likely stayed with some one privately.
