Dean, Et al....

Oh, Dear! Well my, isn't that just a fine kettle of fish??!!! 8-I However, Dean's post jibes much better with the vague, rather shifty-eyed responses I got in person when I was in Ottumwa this past July, than what now appears to have been a cheery little fairy story, foisted off on us to try to prevent one humungous great stink!

It looks like we're back to square one with trying to organize a letter-writing campaign, perhaps starting with the Ottumwa Courier. 08-> I will do my best to participate but am truly swamped at the moment with family and professional matters, plus we just FINALLY got my family history books from the printer and now I have to busy myself with publicity and distribution so that we can get back some of the big bux we 'fronted' to have them printed.

What say everyone about this mess???? I personally am aghast about the current state of affairs, since (as I said) those records are vital to my own research and to solving several big family mysteries.

I also have to note that I was informed several years ago that although the 1852 probate of my ggg grandfather Alexander Poston is in the Index at the courthouse, the "packet is empty". I had been hoping that in the interim, the missing papers might have been found. In light of the poor care obviously being given those public records, however, hope dims........ ::sigh::
