Della,

Please, keep on asking all those questions!! The information that these records aren't intended to return to Wapello County is even more important than any delay to accessing the microfilm. You have me wanting to know more, much more... Bringing this to our collective attention is great!

I have always thought that someday I would go and look at the actual census pages, or ship lists, to see signatures or things that just don't 'show' in transcripts, but you have awakened me to the possibility that some of these records may not exist and others are at risk. The information we get from transcripts is only as good as the transcriber.. and even the most dedicated and careful transcriber can still get confused by great grandpa's handwriting.

I am not sure what I can do to help, way off in Seattle, but please keep us posted on what's going on with the Wapello records. My great grandparents may be in there too.

Ellan
