In the fall of 2002 Verda Baird and Wilma Lewis, members of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, surveyed the 78 cemeteries and known burial sites in Jefferson County. During those visits the two women photographed and recorded the conditions of those sites. Verda Baird has prepared a book of those pictures and has written 6 articles for the local paper, The Fairfield Ledger. Those six articles have been transcribed by Debbie Nash and now may be viewed from this page. To review the article click on the article below.

Those cemeteries entered in all CAPITAL LETTERS are listed with the
US Geological Survey.
All of the listed cemeteries are linked to a map showing their locations.
Most also have a link to their "listing" giving
the names of those buried there plus other information that has come from
research of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society.
The cemeteries are listed in alphabet order and those with multiple
names may be listed more than once.
