HOPKIRK FARM AT LOCKRIDGE DATES TO 1836.... Believed to be the county's oldest "family farm" is the HOPKIRK farm east of Lockridge dating back 110 years to 1836.... The HOPKIRK farm one fourth mile east of Lockridge on (*old) Highway 34 has been in the family for 110 years. The original owner was John HOPKIRK who was born April 1, 1809, in Scotland. He arrived in Jefferson county in 1835 and secured the land from the government. The deed was signed by Presdident James K. Polk. His children owned it until four years ago when his grandson, David A. HOPKIRK, purchased it and has been the owner since.
*Note: Highway 34 has since been re-routed south of Lockridge.
