Tingley Independent School

Tingley Independent School's brick school building was completed in September of 1918. Due to declining enrollment, the last graduating class at Tingley Independent School was the Class of 1959. During the school year of 1959 - 1960, high school students attended classes at Mount Ayr while kindergarten through eighth grade classes remained at the Tingley building. The lower elemntary grades began attending classes at the Ellston school building while the Ellston-Beaconsfield-Tingley upper elementary students remained at the Tingley facility. When the new elementary building in Mount Ayr was completed in the spring of 1980, the Tingley School Building was closed. It was demolished in the fall of 1980 and the rubble was hauled away.
