TINGLEY ALUMNI BANQUET
The Tingley High School Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Tingley Community Building with 116 attending
and enjoying a delicious buffet provided by the Tingley UMW. "All Roads Lead to Tingley" was the theme chosed by the GILES
family who served as co-presidents. Table decorations included a road with miniature cars for each guest and road signs
frames with photos of the THS school building given away to lucky winners. The THS school colors of orange and black were
used with John OVERHOLTZER receiving the door prize of a large orange "T" (for Tingley University?). Doris and Merle
BEEN once again printed our programs, invitations and labels. This year they also printed everyone a copy of the
1954 Tingley phone book that had everyone reminiscing about party lines, central and what was your number then? An
appreciation gift was given to them by the GILES family. After Larry GILES gave the welcome, Marlene GILES ZARR gave the
invocation and conducted the business meeting. Sue RICHARDS read the 2003 minutes and Karen WEEDA PETTINGER gave the
treasurer's reprot. There was some discussion about having our meal earlier, but the majority vote was to continue at
7 p.m. The GROUT family will host the Alumni Banquet May 28, 2005. The DUKES Duo (Donald and Rita) will host in
2006. A letter from Ed VERPLOEGH (from the 60 year class) with his memories of growing up in Tingley was read by
Cleone OVERHOLTZER HOSFIELD. An "elderly" couple, who were lost because "All Roads Lead To Tingley," entertained with the
way you know you are in a small town! Everyone enjoyed Callie POORE and Dustin ADAMS as Mable and Able. The roll call
of classes was given by Darlene GILES BEAR. Those graduates in attendance marking special anniversary years were:
