57 attend Tingley alumni banquet May 28

On Saturday, May 28, 2016, the Tingley High School Alumni Banquet was held at the Tingley Community Building. Present were 57 alumni and guests. Co-presidents were: Brenda (Brown) Shelburg, Janet Pearl (Longcoy) Fenton, George and Velma Peters and Glen Tull.

At 6 p.m. Brenda welcomed everyone and thanked the committees, especially Doris Been for helping. Brenda then introduced Don Wilson and Cathy and Roy Klobnak who entertained with a medley of songs.

Brenda gave the invocation preceding a delicious buffet dinner of roast beef, oven fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, vegetables and salad. A variety of homemade pies was dessert. We appreciate the Tingley Wagon Wheel Cafe preparing and serving the meal.

Glen Tull called the meeting to order. He commented that he was especially happy to be present this year as one month ago he had quadruple bypass heart surgery.

Glen acknoledged the four flowers at the head table were in memory of four members who had passed away in the past year. Ronald Tull (1955), George Dailey (1942), Twilla (Hall) Lininger (1937), and Marlene (Giles) Zarr (1951).

Glen called secretary Jenesse Tull to give the report of the last banquet. It was approved as read. Glen called treasurer Mary Sue McIntosh for her report. She reported a balance of $476.54. Also this report was approved as read.

Sue Richards brought attention to the new ceiling and lights installed in the community building. She stated the next project will be new flooring at an estimated cost of $12,000. A grant has been applied for assistance with this cost.

George Peters conducted the roll of classes. Present from the 70 year class (1946) were: Helen (O'Neal) Weeda and Robert England. Karen (Owens) Minnick was the only one present of the 60 year class (1956). Attending of the 55 year class (1961) were Marie (Miller) Sickles and Robert Reasoner.

Glen asked for volunteers to be in charge of next year's banquet. After no response Jenesse moved that the same officers be retained. Motion seconded by Robert Reasoner. Motion carried. Banquet will be held same place, same time, on the Saturday before Memorial Day, 2017. Meeting adjourned.
