PREFACE. The laborious days and weeks spent in compiling and classifying, writing copy, and reading proof have drawn to a close, and our book goes out to the critical inspection of ten thousand people. Our aim has been in compiling this book, not altogether mercenary, for we have had at heart the advancement of the interest of the farmer, having compiled into a readable shape a thousand different items, which show the material prosperity of our county, and which benefits in some shape or form every farmer in the county. The work has been done conscientiously, and though there may be a few errors, the magnitude of the work alone will excuse them.
