Retouching Images: Let the fun begin!
Photoshop can be used to greatly enhance, alter or create an image file. Here are a few of the most useful steps to retouching a photographic image.
To repair a photograph:
- The Clone Stamp (or Rubber Stamp) tool can be used to clone a selected area of an image and used to repair adjacent areas. The healing brush tool can also be used which has a more forgiving effect.
- Zoom in as desired to see your repair area clearly. Hold down the Ctrl key and press the Plus or Minus key (+/-). Alternately, you can use the Navigator window (to turn this on, select Window > Navigator).
- To make a clone, press the alt key and click on the part of the image you want to clone or duplicate then move your mouse to the area you want to start painting, and click or drag to duplicate the image.
- Repeat and paint until the desired effect is achieved. You can always back your change out by holding down alt-ctrl and pressing Z, or select Edit > Step Backwards.
- See demonstration and following along.
- Spend some time making blemishes in the exercise photo disappear.
