October 28, 2015:  Added a list of Transcription Projects currently underway. Interested in volunteering to help us? Check out the current project list and contact the Coordinator. We have a number of partially completed projects that we could use help finishing, and new contributions are always welcome too!

October 27, 2015:  Added Thomas Ross Wallace letter. The letter is undated but was written circa the early 1900's. Thomas Ross Wallace served as Mayor of Atlantic for multiple terms, and also served as clerk of the district and circuit courts. Many thanks to Lisa Varnes-Rex for contributing! Also added transcription of the 1884 biography of Thomas Ross Wallace.

October 9, 2015:  Updated the Cass County Genealogical Society page with the new hours for the Atlantic Library.

September 11, 2015:  Updated the Cass County Genealogical Society page to add the Fall 2015 newsletter.

August 25, 2015:  Added gravestone photo and info regarding Civil War soldier Daniel W. Porter from Cass County, contributed by Steve Hanken.

August 19, 2015:  Added a complete transcription of the 1892 Farmers Directory Anita post office entries. The 1892 Farmers Directory is gradually being transcribed. Additional post offices coming soon!

Also added links to the Census Record Main Index for Archive.org downloads of Federal Census Records for Cass County. A few years ago Allen County Public Library microfilms of all original Federal Census records for Cass County were digitized and uploaded to Archive.org, a non-profit internet library. Census records are not indexed, transcribed, or searchable at Archive.org, BUT anyone can freely download complete census records for Cass County and scroll through the original images at leisure on their own computer. Please note the file sizes when choosing a format to download. PDF file format is popular and widely used, but it does require significantly more hard drive space than some other options and consequently the download will take longer.

August 11, 2015:  Added original images to the 1917 Farmers Directory for Washington Township page.

August 9, 2015:  Added complete transcription of the 1917 Farmers Directory for Washington Township. Typed summary listing images for each township have been available on Cass IAGenweb for many years, but we are now gradually transcribing the complete original directory by township and replacing the summary pages. Washington Township is now fully transcribed.

July 28, 2015:  Added CCGS Ancestral Chart Index. It is an index of ancestral charts contributed to the Cass County Genealogical Society, listing the surnames included in each chart. Many thanks to the CCGS for contributing!

July 23, 2015:  Added Armed Forces / Military Graves Registration Index, contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society. This alphabetical index lists grave locations for all Armed Forces personnel buried in Cass County. Many thanks again to the CCGS!

July 22, 2015:  Added an Index to the CCGS News Clipping Scrapbooks of Birthdays, Family Reunions, Weddings and Anniversaries, contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society. Many thanks to the Cass County Genealogical Society!

July 21, 2015:  Added an Index for Cass County in the World War 1917-1918-1919 contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society. Many thanks to the CCGS! A few biographies from this book had already been transcribed ("Gold Star Boys" and Distinguished Service Cross recipients) and have been linked, and we hope to eventually transcribe more.

July 20, 2015:  Added WWII Scrapbook Index contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society. The WWII scrapbooks were compiled during the war and contain news clippings and other info on individual Cass County servicemen.

July 17, 2015:  Added a general description of the Naturalization process, including info about record availability and images of two orginal Declarations of Intent: Erik Alfred Sunden and Karl Wilhelm Wilson. These images provide an example of the type of information available in the records. We hope to eventually add additional images.

July 15, 2015:  Added North Section - Full Transcription - Brighton/Marne Cemetery, contributed by Carolyn DeLay and the Cass County Genealogical Society. All sections of the CCGS Brighton/Marne Cemetery transcription are now online. Also added District Court Index of Naturalization Records 1870-1930, indexed and contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society.

July 14, 2015:  Added Cass County District Court Will Index, 1878 - March 1931, compiled and contributed by the Cass County Genealogical Society.

July 6, 2015:  Added transcriptions of 5 additional biographies from A Memorial and Biographical Record of Iowa published in 1896 (Card, Emmert, Phelps, Wilkin, Wilson). All biographies with Cass County connections have been transcribed from these volumes.

July 6, 2015:  Added transcriptions of 8 additional biographies from A Memorial and Biographical Record of Iowa published in 1896 (Crisman, Green, Hill, Kennelley, Prall, Shaw, Wickersham, Willard).

July 5, 2015:  Added transcriptions of the biographies of Dr. Addison Parker Macomber and Lafe Young from A Memorial and Biographical Record of Iowa published in 1896.

July 1, 2015:  Added transcription of the Underground Railroad section from Chapter V of the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

June 25, 2015:  Added Southwest Section - Full Transcription - Brighton/Marne Cemetery, contributed by Carolyn DeLay and the Cass County Genealogical Society. The remaining section (North) will be coming soon!

January 21, 2015:  Many thanks to Bernice Ihrke and the Cass County Genealogical Society!! An unknown photo contributed in 2012 by a grandson of Walter and Olive Lusk has been identified! We now know that the unknown photo is of the Ruth and William Burnside family of Lewis, Iowa. Also updated the Cass County Genealogical Society page to add the latest CCGS newsletter (published in December).
