What Have We Added Recently?

May 7, 2012:  Added cemetery table for Wiota (Jameson) Cemetery, which will eventually include links to corresponding Iowagravestones photographs, as well WPA records and biographies and obituaries that have been transcribed to IaGenweb. Uploading of the photographs is in progress, but will take some time to complete, as this is a fairly large cemetery.

April 20, 2012:  Added 7 more biographies Kimball, Kriger, Kunze, Nordman, Oakes, O'Connell and Odem) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

April 18, 2012:  Added 3 more biographies (Briggs, Brown, and Young) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography and also the section on the Town of Wiota.

April 8, 2012:  Added a link to the 1940 Federal Census for Cass County. The 1940 census has not been indexed yet, so you will not be able to search on your ancestor's name, but you can page through the images. The above link will display a list of the ED description images, but just click "Maps" or "Census Schedules" to view those instead.

April 4, 2012:  Added Death Certificate Index 1917-1921, indexed by the State Historical Society of Iowa and reformatted for Cass IaGenweb.

April 2, 2012:  Added the final page of Bank and Bankers (Phillips, Simpson, Harvey) and Physicians and Surgeons Plate 1 from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album.

March 28, 2012:  Added the remainder of Bank and Bankers Plate 2 and Plate 3 from the 1904 Exposition Souvenir Album. Also added transcriptions of 12 more biographies (Alexander, Beason, Bradshaw, Brehmer, Breece, Boorman, Calkins, Perrin, Peters, Rowland, Wallace, Worthington) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

March 12, 2012:  Added portraits of 13 prominent Cass County Citizens and 2 biographical sketches (Ballard and Hopley) from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (pages 5 & 391).

February 28, 2012:  Added scanned images of all four pages of The Atlantic Weekly Telegraph, Vol. 2, No. 43, Dec. 4, 1872. This is very likely the only copy of this particular issue still in existence today. Also added photos of the Andrew and Emma (Darnold) Erickson family.

February 28, 2012:  Added transcription of the Table of Contents from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added transcriptions of Atlantic Churches and Wiota Savings Bank from the 1906 compendium. Also added engraved view of the Farm & Country Residence of S. M. Ballard from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (page 286).

February 27, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 3 more biographies (Cuykendall, Cuykendall and Erickson) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added image of Obed Blakeslee to his biography, already transcribed from page 270. (Image is from a separate unnumbered page located between pages 270 and 271.)

February 25, 2012:  Added photo of Arthur Levi Downs, son of Levi and Laura Downs of Atlantic. Also added 19 more biographies from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940), Boorman through Cruise.

February 23, 2012:  Added images of two advertisements for the Levi Downs Store from the June, 1894 issue of Metropolitan Fashions.

February 22, 2012:  Added 14 more biographies from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940) and the remainder of the key to abbreviations. Also added 11 additional engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (pages 282, 284, 329, 335, 336).

February 18, 2012:  Added transcription of a short history of Cass County and the biography of Clarence Samuel Acker, both from the Iowa Press Association's Who Who in Iowa (1940), including a partial transcription of the key to abbreviations.

February 1, 2012:  Added an index to Cass County biographies found in the Iowa Press Association's Who's Who in Iowa (1940).

January 29, 2012:  Added 4 engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Barnett, Beason, Morgan and Reesman).

January 28, 2012:  Added 5 new transcriptions from the 1875 Andreas Atlas: Physical Features & Resources; County Officers, 1875; Early History; Towns; and Business Directory of Cass County Patrons.

January 27, 2012:  Added 5 engraved views and 2 maps from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Elliott, Kirk, Hebing, Meredith, Van Vlack, and plans/maps of Atlantic and Lewis).

January 16, 2012:  Added 10 engraved views from the 1875 Andreas Atlas (Berg, J. Hopley, McDermott, Spoor, Strater, W. Hopley, Coomes, Cushing & Palmer, Dickerson, and Warwick).

January 10, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 4 more biographies (Miller, Needles Neer and Nelson) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography. Also added an index to Cass County materials contained in the 1875 Andreas Atlas.

January 8, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 6 more biographies (Beaver, Beebe, Bell, Bell, Berry, and Young) from the 1906 Compendium of History and Biography.

January 7, 2012:  Uploading of gravestone photos from Highland Cemetery is now complete. Wiota/Jameson Cemetery was partially walked and photographed in November 2011, and uploading of those photos to the Iowagravestone Photo Project (GPP) will now begin. Photographing of all gravestones in Wiota/Jameson is expected to be completed Spring/Summer 2012. Evergreen Cemetery was partially walked and photographed in December 2011, and uploading of those photos will also begin soon.

January 6, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 5 biographies from Biographies and Portraits of Progressive Men of Iowa Volume II by B. F. Shambaugh, published in 1899. Also reorganized the Military section, adding a Military Main Page and added a new transcription The Twenty-third Iowa Infantry to the Civil War section.

January 5, 2012:  Added transcriptions of 6 biographies from Biographies and Portraits of Progressive Men of Iowa by B. F. Gue, published in 1899. Also added a page for St. Joseph's/Wiota Catholic Cemetery. St. Joseph's was walked by an Iagenweb volunteer in November 2011 and all gravestones photographed. Those photos have been uploaded to the Iowagravestones Photo Project (GPP).
