Subject: MARGARET (MCGINNIS) ROBY MARRIED CHARLES SCHAINBURGER
Dated: Monday, June 26, 2000 12:05 AM
From: Robyn Ashton
My GGGrandmother is Margaret (McGinnis) Roby (b. ~1857 d. ?) and was married to John Milton Roby (b. 1850, d. 1916). I believe the two were divorced prior to 1895, perhaps in Keokuk Co. She has pretty much dropped out of site. Anyway, a distant relative told be Margaret m. Charlie Schainburger and that they are buried in St. Mary's. I wrote St. Mary's (the one in Muscatine) and have not heard back after about 2 months. Anyway, the only other clue is that Margaret died before 1949. I was hoping to find a cemetery record and then search for the death record and obit... Any help/advice you can offer would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Robyn

Subject: Surname search--Kuno Belling
Dated: Sunday, June 04, 2000 4:00 PM
From: William & Laura Idsinga
I am trying to locate my great grandfather, Kuno Belling. I believe he had several first names Herman Leo Kuno Belling and they travelled from Germany with a family named Vogel. Kuno came over when he was one year old around 1850. He married in 1888 when he was 35 years old in Pope County, AR according to his marriage license. My aunt thinks he lived in Muscatine County.. but, I have not found any proof of this. I think one lady was named Agnes Vogel and one was Laura Vogel; however, I have no basis for this except for aging aunts memory which I do hope is accurate.

I am in the process of researching my husbands family. I run across these names that are in the Greenwood Cemetery. I am in need of dates/full names/locations/ and any other documentation, such as death certificates, etc. that I would be able to obtain. The names that I am researching are: Albert Fiefield Lyons: I do not know if FIEFIELD is his middle name although that is what it states on the internet records. Or spelled correct. Minnie E. Lyons: Bertha Lyons Smith: George Lee Smith: Can you tell me if Albert and Minnie Lyons were husband and wife? Also, can you tell me if George Lee and Bertha Lyons Smith were husband and wife? I also need to find out if Bertha was the daughter of Albert and Minnie Lyons? Also, if any other relatives of George Lee Smith are buried there or the Lyons? Can you tell me how I can obtain this information? This is the only link that I have been able to find. I believe that Bertha Lyons Smith was born abt. Feb. 5, 1898, and George Smith was born abt. Dec. 28, 1903. Can you please help me? I thank you for your time and assistance in this matter. You have a lovely day. My email address is: MrSmith93@aol.com Sally O :)

I am looking for any living relatives who might still be there for a Family Reunion; Also I am looking for death records of David Christian and Mary Catherine Sager. From: Janet Wisner/Keith Shaw
Charles Wesley Wisner was listed on the 1850 Wayne Co. OH census as 18 years old. Sometime in the next decade he married Sarah Kunkle (from Knox Co OH) and started his family. He died (I don't know why) in fall of 1862 according to my g grandfather's autobiography. He moved back to Wayne Co. after his father died, grew up there with an uncle and ended up at the College of Wooster, taught there, and eventually became a Presbyterian minister and missionary in China where he helped establish a university in Canton.) I have not found my Wisner family in the 1860 census, but have not found access to all the information, so that would be the next route. Jan

Alexander SMITH, b. 1 May 1863 Muscatine Co., IA, m. Hannah FREDRICKSON b. Nov. 1867, Denmark.....married in Omaha, NE. Alexander settled in Earling, Shelby Co. about 1873 Moved to Harlan, Shelby Co., in 1895 and raised his family.....have children's names and dates. Alex was the son of Richard and Angeline (Henning) SMITH (married in Muscatine Co., pos. Atalissa,1860) . Richard came to Muscatine Co. from Ohio, but I don't know where in Ohio, and was settled in Harlan, Shelby Co...by 1900. Richard's first wife Angeline died in Muscatine Co., 1866, and is buried there at Timberlake Cem. along with their first child, Elizabeth. They had, Alexander, Jared/Jarret, Elizabeth as far as I know. Have never found out anything about Jared . Angeline was the daughter of John HENNING and Adeline TARR, who were in Cedar Co., 1850 Census. He 2nd married Henrietta MEYERS, 5 Aug 1867 in Muscatine Co., they had a daughter Adeline. Henrietta died in Muscatine Co., but I don't know where she is buried, or anything about her. The "Shelby Co. Past and Present", has Richard married to Henrietta SEXTON as his second marriage. Don't know where the SEXTON comes in at. There are a Jarrett and Elizabeth SMITH buried at Timberlake Cem. in the same area as Angeline.......I wonder if they are related since Richard and Angeline named their children Jarrett and Elizabeth. If anyone is researching these families and can add to my information, I would be forever grateful. Thank you, Linda Jenkins Wensel........great great great granddaughter of Richard Smith

From: Frank Guffey
I am trying to determine the fate and first name of my gg grandfather (Blair). I have searched all of the records you have on line and have not found him. Based on the information I have collected, it appears he died between about 1862 and 1865. Both my great grandmother (1860) and her sister (1863) were born in Muscatine County, IA. I believe the family belonged to the Lutheran Church. Also, it appears his wife remarried in 1865. As you go through the cemetery records, I would appreciate it if you could keep an eye for this surname and let me know if you find anything. Please, do not make a special effort as I know this is not much information. Thanks, Frank Guffey

Subject: PHILIP HOFFMAN

From: Yvonne
Is anyone still in that area who is related to Philip HOFFMAN and his wife Mary PURCELL HOFFMAN? They both were born in 1812 and died in Muscatine County, Iowa. Their children were Curtis, born 1831; George Thomas, born in Washington County, IN. on March 18, 1834; Mary born 1836; Nancy born 1838; Lewis born 1840; Eliza born 1842; and Emily born 1846. Apparently, the family lived for a few years in Indiana then moved back to Iowa in 1852, then moved to Missouri in 1859. Philip and Mary must have then moved back to Iowa and lived out their lives there. I hope there is someone still in Iowa who is related to this family. I would love to hear from them. I'd be more than happy to share this branch of the "tree". Yvonne - Oregon

Subject: SANDER (or SANDERS) surname
Date: Sun 3/05/00 1:01 AM
From: Jim Sander
I am searching for information on William Henry SANDER (or SANDERS) and his wife Mary OTHMER who lived in Muscatine in 1859 through the 1880s. There is record of a William Sanders in the 37th Iowa Inf. (out of Muscatine) but I am not certain it was the same William Sander. As I understand it William was an Englishman, married in Germany to Mary Othmer, and moved to the states to Iowa because her family was in Muscatine. There are census and military records of Augustus Othmer in the county at this time. Any information would be helpful. Thanks. -- Jim Sander nedworld@earthlink.net

Subject: KENNEDY SCHWEITZER Family in Muscatine, Iowa
Date: Mon 2/28/00 3:40 PM
From: Trudy Kennedy
My father-in-law's parents were John KENNEDY and Anna SCHWEITZER. His name was Richard Robert KENNEDY. He was born in Solomon, Dickinson, Kansas on 5 December 1894 as were his siblings Andrew William, Phillip and Mary Ellen. Sometime after 1900 the family returned to Muscatine. Their son Joseph KENNEDY was born there on 10 April 1905. It is my understanding they had family in the area. I am trying to obtain #1 a xeroxed copy of Joseph KENNEDY's birth certificate and #2 any information that would tell me who the parents of John KENNEDY and Anna SCHWEITZER are such as a copy of a probated will etc. Shortly after Joseph was born the family migrated to Texas where children Leo and Anna were born. What happened to the family after that is unknown. My father-in-law ended up in Tucson, Arizona and is buried there.

Subject: SEIBERT/guardianship?
Date: Tues 2/08/00 9:43 PM
From: Beverly Walmer Wyld
According to family tradition, Adam SEIBERT and his wife Magdalena SEIBERT (born in Pa.) died in 1860 and are buried at Wilton Junction, Iowa. I did locate Magdalena SIBERT and at least four children on the 1860 census for Muscatine County, Milton Twp. Magdalena must have died sometime after the enumeration, if the death date is correct. I checked what cemetery records I could for Muscatine County but did not find either party listed. Some of the children returned to Pa. after the death of their parents. Even if neither parent had a will, shouldn't there have been guardians set up for the minor children? What are the dates for such records in Muscatine County? Is anyone else researching SEIBERTS/SIBERTS in Muscatine County? Thank you.
