    Land Sales.- J W Ellis to Wm Jones (colored), Lot 10, Block 11, Ellis' Addition, $100.00

     Some of the Board of Regents laid out the foundation of the new Institute building the wrong way, and an extra 100 foot of ditch had to be dug to right it.

     W A Duckworth, of Floris left for Ottumwa last evening, where he will engage in the foundry business.

     Mr Jacob Gingrich is making preparations to build a $6000 grist and sawmill at Stilesville.

     J McCan put up last Wednesday at West Grove the best monument in the county. Its size was heighth 10 1/2 foot, circumference of base 30". The engraving was "T B Coliver & Three infant children."

     Drs Greenleaf and Young performed a difficult and delicate surgical operation upon the person of little May, daughter of Frank Eichelberger, yesterday. The patient had been suffering for a year from hip disease.

     W G Linn who has been for several years agent at this place for the St L KC & N RR, moved to Ottumwa last week.

     Notice to Carpenters. Notice is hereby given that a contract for building a frame School House in Sub District No 9, Union Township, Davis County, Iowa, will be let to the lowest bidder on the 30th of May, 1874, at 2 o'clock PM at the residence of D S Sullivan.
