William Basford (or Bassford)

Do anyone have information about William Basford (or Bassford) who used to live in Jefferson County, Iowa, with his wife and children between 1865 and 1875? What happened to him?

He was the first husband of my great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Isabell Nancy "Belle" (Parks) Basford Campbell Higgins who herself was married at least three times as far as I know? He also appeared to be the father of the first four (4) of Belle's 12 children (including Pleasant, Della, two others). What I would love to know is whether he had died somehow before Belle married her next husband, Samuel Campbell (who was my great-great-grandfather, by the way) or he and Belle were divorced before she married Samuel.

For your information, Belle was the first child of Silas Parks and Nancy Ann (Coop) Parks and the granddaughter of Colonel William G. and Nancy Ann (Harris) Coop and of Jacob and Nancy Ann (Bonham) Parks, all of Jefferson County, Iowa. Samuel Campbell was the son of Thomas C. and Susannah (Evans) Campbell, both of whom had lived in Jefferson County at times.

I hope someone will come forward with some information about William Basford!!
