As you probably already know, records are not always accurate. Your best bet is to contact the courthouse in "Fairfield" and the "Jefferson County Iowa Courthouse" in Fairfield for additional info.

There are records at ancestry.com for this family, but not very much is really available for Bassford. There isn't any Bassford or similar spelling in WPA records at all for Jefferson County Iowa.
