(By the way, Sister Dorothy Quinn was present at the funeral of my grandfather, Scottie Samuel Stevens, in September of 1965. She was Grandpa Scottie's first cousin and according to my dad, Grandpa Scottie used to live for a period of time with some Quinn cousins in his youth and early adulthood [as well as some of his Stevens cousins]. Her signature was there in the funeral guest book now in my aunt's possession.)

Information on "Della Roberts, wife of William Roberts" (Daughter of Belle Higgins and her 1st husband, William Basford) which was obtained from "Marriage Records of Wapello Co (Iowa)" scrapbooks at the public library in Ottumwa.

*Roberts, J.W. and Myrtle Eva Bassford
7-22-1899 by J.A. Ballard, J.P.

(Actually, she was already known to me as Eva, wife of J.W. Roberts, through her Columbia Cemetery [near Chillicothe] gravestone and was "Della Roberts... Daughter of Belle Higgins" through her newspaper obituary at the local library) So it seems she was known by these first names of Eva, Myrtle, Della, and Nancy Dells.

*Mrs. Eva Roberts..buried Columbia Cemetery...(Ottumwa Courier) obituary notices dated Sept. 23, 1901 (p. 1, col 4) and as Mrs. Wm Roberts aged 21 years, dated on Sept. 23, p. 8 col. 6.

Now on the complex and chaotic information on Isabell Nancy "Belle" Parks Basford Campbell Higgins herself!! Copied from "Marriage Records of Wapello County, Iowa" scrapbooks at the local library in Ottumwa.

*Higgins, James and Belle Brown
8-24-1905 by W.J. Berry, J.P.

Again from the same source, but earlier....

*Brown, Harry and Nancy Parks
6-6-1903 by G. L. Flowers

So from this, it appears that she had been married 4 times so far.....(1) William Basford; (2) Samuel Campbell; (3) Harry Brown; and (4) James Joseph Higgins. So that is one of the main reasons why I believe Belle's last three children were actually Samuel Campbell's children, not James Higgins'. Belle's life is a landmine to combine through carefully!

THAT IS ALL FOR NOW. I HAVE SOME MORE TO ADD AT A LATER DATE.
