I wonder if David moved and died in Nebraska between census or was simply buried there? I say that because I have looked at every possible variable for a David or initial D. CRANE, CRAIN, CRAINE between 1900-1920 and do not see him in Nebraska.

Then I started looking for Helen Crane in Nebraska. Found a Helen M., age 68 (widowed) born PA in Charles Mix Co., SD during the 1910 census living with divorced brother-in-law Roy A. Crane who's father was born in New York. Then this Helen is found in 1920 census at Hat Creek, Sioux Co., Nebraska with son-in-law and daughter Francis and Minnie Hall. Also remember I mentioned a nephew in one census with last name Carroll? By coincidence there is a Carroll family living next to the Hall's.

Any connection with these names and places?

Yes, David's Porter in-laws were living 2 doors down from him in the 1860 census at Jones Co., IA.

Eric
