Marriage certificates, what information is contained in them

My husband's great grandmother Martha J. Porter married David D. Crane January 29, 1860 in "Jones", Iowa. We do not know her parents, would that information be listed on the marriage certificate? Where do I obtain a copy of the certificate? Martha and David D. are listed in the Jones County Marriages, or book of marriages. Martha was a relative of Admiral David Dixon Porter USN, and we think the grandaughter of David's father Commodore David Porter USN. We thought that by getting the marriage certificate we would be able to find her parents.
