Samuel Purviance Ireland and James Wood Ireland are not related. DNA proves this.

James Wood Ireland was born in Harrison Co., WV in 1807. "Maggie" (Isa)Belle was his daughter. Her mother, Mariah (Mansfield) Lucas Ireland, was James Wood Ireland's second wife.

Samuel Purviance Ireland is descended from John Ireland and Martha Purviance.

These two Ireland families arrived in Jones Co. approx. the same time. I have been reseaching for 20 years and I cannot find any connection between the two families prior to the marriage in Jones Co. of Francis Ireland (born 1848 McHenry Co., IL) and Harmon L Ireland (born 02/03/1850 Tippecanoe Co., IN) in 1883 (His 2nd marriage).
