Hello Christine,
I have not found anything on Alexander Welsh/Welch pertaining to his parents or any siblings if there were any.
I had found the register of deaths that had Alex in them. I had hoped that I made a breakthrough and found his parents names. But no luck as the information did not include parents names. The info is as follows.Register of Deaths-Book 1-Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa
Date of Report: July 13, 1897, Name: Alexander Welch, Sex: Male, Color: White, Age: 77
Date of Death: March 9, 1897 11 p.m., Married born: Scotland
Place of Death: Hilton Township, Cause of Death: Heart Disease, Duration of Disease: Not Known
Place of Burial: Scotch Cemetery, Hilton Township, Date of Burial: March 11, 1897According to information I have aquired over the years. He and Elizabeth had three children born in Scotland before coming here to the states.
Agnes who was born in January 1851 in Forfershire, Scotland, and married my ggg grandfather Stephen Sherlock
Margery Amanda (she went by Amanda on most offical records) was born in 1854 Perthsire, Scotland and married Geroge Husted.
Jane was born in November 1855 in Blairgowrie, Perth,Scotland
After that they had one more daughter Mary and two sons William and Edward all born in Iowa, USAAlexander and Elizabeth were married in Alyth, Perthshire, Scotland, May 23, 1848
Elizabeth Fleming parents were Robert and Agnes Fleming. They were brought here to the states from Scotland by Elizabeths brother David. David and 3 other Scotsmen
were the first to settle the area now know as Hinton, Iowa. David shared his cabin with Alexander and his family.I don't know if any of the above as helped you any. I hope it has. If you believe these could be the people you are looking for I sure would appreciate any info you have on Alexanders parents and/or siblings and any other relationships you may have.
