Letter to the Editor Visitor impressed with community on reunion visit
To the Editor: I just returned from spending a weekend in my hometown of Mount Ayr for the class of 1954 reunion.
I was so impressed with the great facilities at the Mount Ayr Inn and Suites, The Wildbird Hunting Lodge, the great tour
guides at the new hospital and the restored Princess Theater and the Ramsey Farms banquet. I am so proud of my hometown
fixing the sidewalks and the new lights around the square! I can't leave town without eating at the Roadhouse and Peggy
Sue's! But I sure do miss the skating rink! Thank you to everyone who had a part in these ventures! You all deserve
a rose! Dorothy REEL PERRY

Letter to the Editor Progress seen in county visit 'heartwarming'
Dear sir: Last week I returned to Mount Ayr Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the 55th reunion of the Class of 1954. It
was heart-warming to see the progress happening in Ringgold county. We had a good attendance at all our planned functions,
which included an informal dinner Friday night at the Iowa Roadhouse. On Saturday morning we had a delicious brunch at
Wildbird Ridge Lodge, hosted by the McCREARYS. We heard the head of the Chamber of Commerce office speak and the DNR
representative told us what's happening in the parks in the county. We then had a tour of the new Ringgold County Hospital,
due to open in December, and were told about a future new jail being built. Saturday night we had our banquet at
Ramsey Farm and 40 attended. Congratulations to all the people of Ringgold County. It was a joy to come home.
Also the First Christian Church, of which I was a member in high school days, has a new young minister, Rev. Chris
CONKLIN and family. Seven of us attended our old home town church and enjoyed worshiping on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Sincerely, Sharon BROWN COOPER Centerville, IA
