Five qualify for All-Iowa dance team
Mount Ayr Community high school girls went a perfect five-for-five at the recent tryouts for the All-Iowa drill team.
The five qualifying for the squad this year are (L-R) Madi HOSFIELD, daughter of Stephanie and Randy HOSFIELD of
Mount Ayr, in kick performance; Allison WALLACE, daughter of Lynne and Kurt WALLACE of Mount Ayr, pre-game performance;
April SHIELDS, daughter of Kim and Dave SHIELDS of Mount Ayr, in kick performance; Caitlin GILES, daughter of Tracy and
Scott GILES of Mount Ayr, in pom performance; and maggie JENNETT, daughter of Chantelle and Steve JENNETT of
Blockton in pom performance. The girls have a busy schedule ahead of them. They will practice all day at the AIB
activities center on February 28 followed by another practice on March 1 prior to their performances. Performances
are scheduled for March 1 at 3:35 p.m. for the pre-game show of the 1 A state championship basketball game. On
March 2 they will reherse again all day at the Wells Fargo convention center prior to the pre-game performance at
5:45 p.m. The pom and kick routines will then perform at halftime of the 4 A championship game.
