Two top ratings to speech groups

Mount Ayr Community and Diagonal Community high school speech students brought home two division I ratings
from the state large group speech contest held at Hoover high school in Des Moines Saturday. The Mount Ayr
Community high school group improvisation team of Sandy WHITE, Jared BECK, Matt HYMBAUGH, Debra WILSON and Tara BAKER
received an overall I rating. The Diagonal Community high school radio broadcasting team of Lauren SOBOTKA, Melissa
AMICK, Amanda CREIGHTON and Kaylin BERGER received an overall I rating for their performance as well. Two other
Diagonal groups received division II ratings in the state contest. They included the choral reading group of
Tony WILEY, Niki GOODALE, Whitney WOLF and Ashley RUBY; and the reader's theater entry of Whitney WOLF, Niki GOODALE, Ashley
RUBY, Amanda CREIGHTON and Kaylin BERGER. Shaun KNIEP is the Mount Ayr Community high school speech sponsor and Bonnie
NEWGARD is the Diagonal Community high school speech sponsor.
