Academic bowl team takes silver at wayne
Mount Ayr Community's academic bowl team took second in the Wayne Academic Bowl Tournament held in Corydon Wednesday,
April 9. Clara TERRELL led the team to victory in the final round as the squad defeated Central Decatur 18-10 to take
second place. The squar opened the day with a 17-12 victory over East Union. The next round was against Lamoni, with the
squad finally losng to Lamoni 25-30 in a back-and-forth battle. The Raiders next faced Mormon Trail, taking a decisive
15-4 victory. In the afternoon the team came back to down Interstate 35 18-9 and then defeat Central Decatur 18-10 to
take second place. Team members<>On the MACHS squad for the tournament were Lucas ANGUS, Tanner
RINEHART, Shelly ADAMS, Heidi WINKLER, Troy HENRY, Debra WILSON and Clara TERRELL.Lamoni placed first and Central
Decatur took third place. Ohter teams taking part were Interstate 35, Wayne, Mormon Trail, East Union and Moravia. Ray
COFFEY is advisor for the academic bowl team.
