Rachel Gregg breaks school record
at POI cross country meet

At right, Elizabeth Sobotka (105) and Rachel Gregg (100) had record setting times at the Pride of Iowa conference meet October 11 in Mount Ayr. Gregg beat the current record with a time of 24:44.75 and Sobotka tied it with a time of 24:48.13.

The Raider and Raiderette Cross Country teams hosted the Pride of Iowa meet recently along with the Ron Landphair Invitational.

At the POI meet, Mount Ayr came in second with 75 points overall. Rachel Gregg finished 13th overall for the Raiderettes and set a new school record with a time of 24:44.75.

Elizabeth Sobotka finished 14th overall with a time of 24:48.13.

The Raiders finished third overall as a team with 102 points.

"It was an exciting night for the teams," said coach Deb Larsen. "Placing second for the girls and third for the boys was a tremendous outcome for their hard work this season. It was great to have four boys place in the top 20 and receive a POI medal. Rachel Gregg and Elizabeth Sobotka were able to medal for the girls' team."

Isaac Timmerman finished first for the Raiders and 13 overall with a time of 19:19.45. Chase Smith and Will Hunt stayed close with finishes of 15th and 16th place respectively and times of 19:33.54 and 19:42.50. Josh Restauro finished 19th overall with a time of 20:05.94.
