Sparks dance team receives I ratings
On Saturday, November 5, five members of the Mount Ayr High School Sparks Dance Team competed in the Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA) Class I State Solo Competition in Newton.Haylea England, Kennedy Brokaw-McAlexander, and Ryann Martin all received Divison I ratings and were Superior Medal Winners. Addison Shay received a Division II rating. Out of 60 girls competing, Mount Ayr had two girls place in the top 12 as Ryann placed third, and Haylea placed second in Class I. "All five girls did a great job representing Mount Ayr Community High School," said coach Kim Curry. The Sparks are now preparing for the ISDTA State Team Competition on December 2 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. ~ ~ ~ ~

The Mount Ayr Sparks Dance Team performed its state championship routine at halftime of Sunday's Drake men's basketball game against Evansville at the Knapp Center as part of Southwest Iowa Day at the Drake men's and women's basketball games in Des Moines.
