Cheer squad competes at state meet
The Mount Ayr Community competition cheer squad competed at the state meet Saturday, November 5 at the State Fairground in Des Moines.Cheerleaders in state cheer competition included: Stunt Group: Abby Schafer, Caroline McAlexander, MacKenzie Shields, Brylea Stark, and Kristen Young. The stunt group competed in the class 1A division and didn't make finals but did
improve their score over last year by 25 points. Time out cheer group: Blair Glendenning, Haylea England, Brylea Stark, Molly Anderson, Abbey Schafer, Kirsten Young, Addy Flammang, MacKenzie Shields,
Emma Mobley, Sammy McGill, Ryann Martin, Caroline McAlexander, Sam Stewart, and Madi Birkenholz. The time out cheer group competed in the 1A/2A division and came in sixth place, just one point shy of a trophy. Coaches are Amanda Waske and Carol Cason.

Cheerleaders win spirit award
The Mount Ayr wrestling cheerleaders won the spirit award at the John J. Harris wrestling tournament at Corning last weekend. This is the second time that they have won this award. This is voted on by other cheer coaches and cheerleaders at the tournament. Shown above with their trophy are Katie Sickels, Breanne Haley, Caroline McAlexander. Sammy McGill and Ryann Martin. Not pictured were Hannah Jackson, Hanna Ackley and Megan Reasoner.
