The Raider basketball team opens their season December 1 against Creston. Last season the Raiders finished 11-9, which is their seventh winning season in 10 years. The Raiders are picked in the top 5 of the Pride of Iowa Conference this year with 11 returning letterwinners to the squad of which seven are seniors.

Coach Ruggles is beginning his ninth year as the head coach of the Raiders. Ruggles won his 100th game last season against Clarinda. Ruggles is currently 101-79. His 101 wins ranks him third overall in Mount Ayr history.
