Middle school band places at Clarinda

The Mount Ayr Raider Middle School Band placed third in the Class I Division at the Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree held in Clarinda Saturday, Ocoboer 4. Tri Center Neola placed first, and Treynod placed second. Other middle school bands that did not place were Bedford and AHSTW.

Drum majors are Elsie Schafer and Josh Cox.

"I'm so proud of these kids," said director Greg Storhoff. "This was their first marching band competition, and they did such a wonderful job. All three judges gave the students very positive comments. There were 61 bands that marched in the parade, and the students learned a lot. This was a great experience for our students."

The middle school band will perform at the last home football game on October 24 and at the Tingley Halloween Parade on October 31.
