Ellston High School Alumni Banquet 50-Year Honor Class of 1936 May 24, 1986
Delma (Long) Grimm
I was married to Ralph Grimm from Grand River on March 10, 1937, at Leon, Iowa. We lived at Des Moines
and Osceola, Iowa until June of 1953. Ralph drove a truck most of the time and I sewed alot (sic) at home and at
Snowdons and Boyt Harness in Des Moines. I started working out of the home when Ralph had a heart attack before he
was 40. We came west to Ogden, Utah near the Wasatch Mountains in 1953. Ralph seems to feel better out here
where humidity is low. We do feel our mountains are so beautiful and have enjoyed many hiking trips and
picnics in them.We have five children and now four are near us but Roger lives at Pasadena, California. Peggy is
interlibrary loan coordinator at Weber State College in Ogden. She has three grown daughters. Roger is a salesman of
O'Neal Company in Los Angeles. He has three grown sons and two adopted daughters. Tom is president of Price Savers Wholesale
Stores which is linked with Krogers stores. Tom has five stores in the West now and is ready to open some more in
California. he is thinking of the Mid-West in time, too. He has two girls and two boys. Ed is an electrical engineer
for Kimberly Clarke here at Ogden. He has two little boys. Karma lives in North Salt Lake City and is an attorney. She has
a little boy. We have fifteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Aren't they fun!
Ralph has been sick most of our married life but we have made the best of it. They finally put lupus on his chart (also
bad lungs and heart.) I have been blessed with good health and am happier when I'm working. I retired from the
government in February of 1985 as I was needed at home. I keep busy working in our small home and yard and flowers. Of
course, I enjoy baby sitting. Will say we do miss many people in Iowa and always enjoy our visits there.
Must say the 50th class reunion was a highlight in my life. We live in the north part of Ogden close to businesses and
stores. We love company so if you are out our way drop in.
