Diagonal Homecoming this week

It's Homecoming at Diagonal Community High School this week, and a full slate of activities are scheduled.

Heading into Homecoming Week, students have been busy designing posters for display in Diagonal businesses.

Special spirit days have been announced. Monday was "Nerd Day," Tuesday was "Come As You Are (Pajama) Day," and Wednesday was "What Not to Wear Day." Thursday students are celebrating "Old/Young Day," and Friday is designated as "Spirit Day."

A community pep rally is set for 2:15 p.m. Friday, December 11 in the south gym. Students have been busy all week working on floats and skits for the pep rally.

Coronation of the 2015 Homecoming queen and king will take place following the basketball games with Moravia Friday evening.

Queen candidates this year include Kasydi Klommhaus, daughter of Keven and Shellie Klommhaus; Stormie Buchanan, daughter of Mike and Kathy Buchanan; Jaci Haidsiak, daughter of Josh and Jessie Haidsiak; and Grace Hall, daughter of William and Hope Hall.

King candidates are seniors Levi Jarred, son of Larry Jarred and Kristy Jarred; and Gerald Naill, son of Jason Naill and Stacy Naill; and juniors Simon Zameni and Enes Us, both foreign exchange students hosted by Bruce and Nora Giese.

Attendants include sophomore Ty Taylor, son of Jim and Lisa Taylor, and Maddie Lohmann, daughter of Mike and Rhoda Lohmann, and freshman Josh Lohmann, son of Mike and Rhonda Lohmann, and Genna Naill, daughter of Jason Naill and Stacy Naill.

A dance in the north gym will follow the coronation with admission at $3 per person.
