Melcher-Dallas 69, Diagonal 57

[Page 9] Poor free throw shooting played a big part in Diagona's 69-57 Homecoming loss to Melcher-Dallas on Friday, Jan. 11.

The Maroons converted only 50 percent of their 36 free shots against the Saints, allowing Melcher-Dallas to pull out the conference win.

"We did a great job keeping our compousre during a physical contest," said coach Larry Teply. "We hit a cold stretch in the second half that really hurt us."

The Maroons were right in the game at the half, but couldn't buy a bucket for a long stretch in the third period and then couldn't catch up.

Ryan England had 33 points and 12 boards to lead the Maroons in those categories against the Saints. Ryan also topped the team in steals with three and Michael Bentley and Brett England led the squad in assists with two.

Diagonal hit 38 percent from the field and 50 percent from the charity stripe.
