Werner family presented plaque
Jim WERNER (left) was given a plaque during the Iowa Cattlemen's Association convention in December honoring his family
as the 2011 winners of the ICA Environmental Stewardship Award Program. The award was presented by Kevin CARSTENSEN of
Odebolt, who serves on the national ESAP selection committee. Jim and Ann WERNER of WERNER Family Angus in Diagonal, were
named the state winners last April. They have worked for more than 30 years to restore numerous ponds, wildlife habitat
and quality pastures for their cattle operation in the southwest corner of Iowa. Each year, ICA selects a state winner
for the ESAP program. Contact the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, 515-296-2266, for information to enter this contest
which focuses on the positive actions cattle producers are taking on their land.
