Dry conditions lead to combine fire
A combine owned by Mark TRIGGS was severely damaged in a field fire Tuesday afternoon just west of Mount Ayr.
The Mount Ayr fire department was on the scene for several hours extinguishing the combine,as well as corn stalks in the
field which were ignited by the blaze. The drought this year has made harvesting especially susceptible to fire
hazard as the dry stalks can be ignited by engine heat.
