Gov. Terry Branstad, Mary K. Overholtzer and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds
OVERHOLTZER was appointed to the Board of Educational Examiners until April 2013 with possibilities of reappointment.
An orientation session took place on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the State Historical Building. Topics provided legal overviews
for the new board and commission members that entailed gift laws and conflicts of interest in sales of goods and services.
The training session discussed the administrative rules process and differences between laws and rules.
A great deal of discussion centered on the importance of open meetings, public records and administrative rules.
Following the training, all state appointees were invited to Terrace Hill for a reception of autumn punch, cookies and
pictures with Governor Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds.
