CHILD DIES of POISON: FARMER ADMITS PLOT
The Pennebakers were married in June in Bedford, Iowa. He was in Diagonal and brought to [Bedford?], where he is held on a murder
charge. The Iowa farmer gave the poisoned candy to his bride, but she forgot it on a trip, and the niece ate it. He also
is charged with attempting to poison his wife. In 1927, Pennebaker's first wife died five months after
their marriage.
