SEARCHERS LOOK FOR DROWNING VICTIM IN THREE MILE LAKE

An apparent drowning in Three Mile Lake near Afton in Union County is the first death at the three-year-old lake.
Search efforts will resume today for 50-year-old Don NEWTON of Kellerton whois believed to have drowned Sunday afternoon.
Union County Sheriff John COULTER says NEWTON was among four people on a boat when a ski blew overboard.
COULTER tried to recover it, but was fully clothed with his work boots on. The sheriff says alcohol consumption, plus the
weight of the clothing and boots, played a part in the drowning. NEWTON was not wearing alife jacket. High winds
approaching 35 miles per hour hampered recovery efforts yesterday.

KELLERTON MAN'S BODY RECOVERED IN UNION COUNTY

Union County authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned in Three Mile Lake. Authorities recovered the body
of 50-year old Don NEWTON of Kellerton. NEWTON had been missing since June 5th when he fell out of a boat on the lake
while trying to recover a water ski. Union County Sheriff John COULTER says heavy rain and cold water probably kept
NEWTON's body from surfacing.
